Research Tips For This Class

Motion Media is an interdisciplinary field, intersecting film, fine art, graphic design, technology, and more. It's also a relatively new field in academia. This makes it an exciting, but potentially challenging area of research.

Follow these tips for research success:

  • Use a combination of print, online, and media/visual sources.
  • Connect information from many sources, rather than looking for the one 'perfect' source.
  • Try many search terms, both general and specific. You may not see much if you only search by artist name.
  • Use films and media as a source by critically describing and analyzing what you see.
  • Start early, and take time to read, absorb and respond. Build your research creatively and organically.
