The first two lines describe the subject of the book.
SF 426 = Dogs

The third line often represents the author's last name or the beginning of the responsible group's name.
A53 = American Kennel Club

The last line represents the date of publication.

Types of Books

If your professor has set aside required reading for your class, find it under Course Reserves. Reserve materials may not be removed from the Libraries. Look up Reserve materials below, write down the call number(s) and bring them to the service desk at any Library location.
