The site contains over one million works of art, architecture, and design by 100,000 artists spanning historical, modern, and contemporary works, including the largest online collection of contemporary art. Artsy also draws connections and maps relationships among works of art, artists, and periods.

The Visual Collections website presented by Cartography Associates contains over fifty digital image collections from museums, universities, and private collections around the world. Users can search through multiple collections ranging from antiquity to the present for a particular artist, time period, or medium.

The Metropolitan Museum of Arts Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History presents a thematic, chronological, and geographical exploration of global art history through The Met's collections. This platform is a reference, research, and teaching tool for students and scholars of art history. The timeline currently comprises more than 1,000 essays, 8,000 works of art, 300 chronologies, and 3,700 keywords. Essays focus on specific themes in art history, including artistic movements and artists; historical and archaeological sites; empires and civilizations; recurrent themes and concepts; and media and material. Works of art from around the world and from all eras are contextualized chronologically, geographically, and thematically. Chronologies provide a linear outline of art history by geographical region and each include representative works of art, a timeline, an overview, and key events. Keywordscategorized by art movement, style, creator, geography, time period, material and technique, object, and subject matterfurther connect chronologies, essays, and works of art.

Trove, an initiative of the National Library of Australia, is a platform for the exploration of diverse collections from Australian libraries, universities, museums, galleries, and archives. Search for digital copies of newspapers, Government Gazettes, maps, magazines, and newsletters. Also included are books, visual material, archived websites, music, and interviews. World Digital Library (WDL) was a project of the U.S. Library of Congress, with UNESCO support, to preserve and share some of the worlds most important cultural objects, increasing access to cultural treasures and significant historical documents to enable discovery, scholarship, and use. The materials collected by the WDL make it possible to discover, study, and enjoy cultural treasures and significant historical documents, including books, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, journals, prints, photographs, sound recordings, and films. Content was chosen for its cultural and historical importance, with an emphasis on recognizing the achievements of all countries and cultures over a wide range of time periods. WDL is transitioning into a sustainable home for perpetual access on the Library of Congresss main website with an expected completion date at the end of 2021.
