International Students Resources & Services

Welcome, International Students! Here is a guide with an introduction to the library and resources for each SCAD location.

Why Cite?

Information possesses several dimensions of value, including commodity, as a means of education, influence, and negotiating and understanding the world. Include all citations for any ideas that are not yours.

Citing the sources you use for your research projects is important for several reasons:

  • It helps avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism is the use of work by another person without clear acknowledgment. It is a form of academic dishonesty and a violation of SCAD's rules of academic integrity. Properly attributing and documenting sources will help your students avoid inadvertently taking credit for another person's ideas.
  • It allows others to find your research sources.
  • It provides evidence to support your ideas and adds credibility to your work by showing that you have consulted reliable sources.
