Shadow of My Grey Grandma by Ruiyu Chen

Cyanotype

Memories are distorted realities, just like shadow. And grey is ambiguity just like all of us. “Shadow of My Grey Grandma” tells contradictory stories about an important figure in my life, grandma, to mimic the ambiguity nature of memories and the grey areas of human beings.

Behind the Door and Everything Else by Mada Jones

Watercolor and serigraphy on Stonehenge, bound with fabric and lace.

A catalogue of my memories and experiences from the summer sorted either behind the green glass door, or with everything else. The book’s pink pages settle into the soft and sweet while the story splays itself in illustration: poems, pictures, and patterns. Between the strawberries, swallows and deer, do you see me?

Water Series by Jessica Watkins

Clay, gauche, and marker on wood

I am captivated by the ocean's chaotic allure, its serene tranquility, and whimsical beauty, which I seek to capture in my four-part doll series. The first doll depicts a woman entwined with fish amidst her hair, bound by ropes attempting to contain the liveliness of her unruly locks. A sea monster writhes through the depths with primal force, embodying the untamed power and mystery beneath the waves. Vibrant crabs contribute to the ocean's ecosystem and lively pulse of life. Lastly, a small vase symbolizes humanity's quest to contain the boundless liveliness of water. Through these dolls, I invite viewers to immerse themselves in the enchanting realm of the ocean, where fantasy and reality intertwine, and the spirit of life flows ceaselessly.
